Yeah...that's a creampuff alright! Those K-22s tend to multiply, watch out. Nice pics.

The M17 along with the M18 are the BEST .22 Revolvers Smith ever made IMHO. The new stainless versions like the M617 don't hold a candle to these older models. A beauty........ use it well.

Very nice, you'll enjoy that one.
Oh, and that's not a lousy print, looks like a pretty clear one. Although or my monitor I can't tell whether it's a tented arch or a whorl.

I had its twin many moons ago. Used a weaver "no gunsmithing" scope mount to put a 2x Leupold on top, it shot quite well all the way out to 100 yards bench-rested.

Congrats & enjoy it !!

Very Nice,

Interesting how the 17-2's and 18-2's appeared both with and without diamond Magnas.

Guessing yours is near the K 705,000 range?

Nice score sir! Where is the print at? Left my glasses at work on Friday and all I see is a beautiful model 17 with some residual oil on it. I now mainly shoot 3 guns, even though I have a few centerfire big bores in the safe. A 17-3, a 2" model 34 and a newer Stevens Favorite 30 that I had a bud install a tang sight on, smoothed out the trigger and and I refinished the wood for my Granddaughter. It looks very classy IMO with the tang sight and is accurate and fun to shoot out to 150 yards. All are 22's. The 17-3 will keep up with a model 41 all day and it's primarily a taget pistol!

Like others have already said you have a great revolver that's capable of crazy accuracy and is cheap to shoot even using some of the inexpensive stuff. I carry the 17 in a old Bianchi shoulder holster and use it for squirrels, rabbits, crows, blackbirds and groundhogs. I don't hit them with every shot as I'm aiming for head shots but have had many a delicious meal of rabbit, squirrel and groundhogs taken with it. Wife won't cook em as they gross her out till there on the table. I can BBQ the heck out of em or make em with dumplings. Young groundhogs are very tasty too BTW.

I too would rather have my 17 over one of the full lugged 17's, even though the pre lock 4" 617 will be one day be a classic too.

Congrats on that beauty and don't let it get away from you.

Happy New Years to you!

Is the print on the RH side of the barrel? Really had to look hard for it. Darn glasses! Hate em.
