Is this the k 22-model 17 slippery slope?
I picked up an 1947 K 22 a couple of days ago and posted pics in the forum above this one. A couple of you folks said I was "Heading down a slippery slope." Yeah right.
Now three days later after a 60 mile round trip I picked up a 17-3 with a few rough spots in the finish but nice otherwise.
Because...Well see...I had a K 22 Masterpiece shooter and it only stands to reason I would get a 17-3 shooter to go with it right?...I mean, just to be able to show people the difference in the two...Am I okay?? I mean it's just a .22 so why I am getting all worked up? They look great together. It's a 1974 and I am looking at a vintage holster and some 60's vintage Stag grips in K frame square butt. What have I caught and is there a way to slow it down a bit?
Hello. My name is Indiuckian and I am a K 22 addict.

Now that you have 2 , you have to be real careful.
I had one for a long time then went to 2 and then they seemed to multiply in the safe. Sometimes with weird 4" , stainless, and heavy underlug mutations. Its strange, not quite sure how it occurs. Good luck. Bob

Your only hope now is to keep telling yourself, "I've only got two hands, I've only got two hands"..........

Take two boxes of standard velocity and call me in the morning. But the cure is doubtful.

Oh, I can tell you... it doesn't stop with K-22's... there is the I "need" to have it's bigger K-38 brother, which leads to all of the K-38 variants. And then there is the "I need" the other K Masterpiece to complete the triad, the elusive (and uber-expensive) K-32 Masterpiece.
Yep... we're all doomed, but what a way to go

See my post is the Lounge section for the K-22 12 step program. I did just sell a 4" model 48 (only because I just purchased a 4" with both cylinders) and really dont want another K-22 unless I find a 617 no lug, or a birth year combat masterpiece, or........... Oh well you guys knew I was full of beans anyway,

Sometimes you see something that is so beautiful that the only thing that comes to mind is a quote from the Good Book.
"My cup runneth over"
That is a most beautiful sight for these eyes. Thank you for sharing and giving me a glimpse of what Heaven may look like if I am a good boy.
I may have someone do a cast of one of mine and make it into a hood ornament. They are that pretty.

Just don't put any Remington ammo through them!
I have a 1974 17-3. Love it.

Engine49guy is absolute proof positive of the existence of the slippery slope.... notice that 17s turned into 18s...
I started with one and now have three 17s. I may not get to where Engine49guy is but I am sliding....! Looking for a nice 18...

BTW After the 17's turn to 18's the 18's turn into 19's

New shoes help when sliding down.....
a slippery slope. A very special thanks to Beagleye for providing these beautiful stag grips for my 17-3. I don't think these new shoes are providing any traction..I still feel myself sliding down...(or up?) the K 22 slope.
Thanks again beagleye.

Very Nice Grips!
BTW...Slipping on a slope is no fun ....I suggest throwing caution to the wind and strapping on a freshly waxed snowboard to get things moving faster !!!

The disease is insidious and comes in many forms. I fell victim to it at an early age with the purchase of a model 48 .22 magnum. Then a "look alike" Model 14 attached itself to me. Later, a K-22 joined the herd and a nickel plated model 17 attacked and just "had to be had." I truly hope a "cure" is not found. Too much fun to be had with the "disease" and besides it is good for the economy ! Yeah-- Right ! All manner of excuses go with this disease.

You guys have some really nice guns. I am poor, destitute, and unworthy, I only have one, a 17-3, but what a great little shooter. They are so much fun I don't think you can be faulted for having more than one, or six, or twelve.

Agreed there is no known cure. I was in remission for awhile but it
re-occured and here i am again. "Chasing the S&W revolvers" disease
is only cured one way, and that is by feeding the fix. Often and without
hesitation. Money and common sence mean little to nothing to those affected.

Beautiful Collection Ditrina !
At this stage in the affliction I catch myself wondering " Where is the 6" Baughman and a 6.5" er?"
Slippery slope indeed ....Does it ever end?

I just picked up my first K22 today. I haven't put it in the safe to meet the rest of the family yet. I can't say I'm addicted to any particular model. I am however hopelessly addicted to the S&W logo. I've been told there is no known cure. So be it! Full speed ahead!

I thought I was done for a while, then someone posted a photo of a 4" 17-5 with the no lug bull barrel. So while innocently surfing the web I found one for sale locally.... well you know the rest of the story.

Yup, he's hooked. For me, it started with a K22 (1948), then a 17-2...then a 617, finally followed by the model 18....
You still need a Stainless & 4", you're making the rest of us look bad.
"...while innocently surfing the web I found one ...." --- Ya captain, that's right up there with: I fell off the ship into the life boat, and that's why I wasn't still on board.
