Ahrends "Smooth" Boot Grips
Ahrends show these on their website but it is not a stocked item. So, I ordered a set for my Model 13-3 and here they are in all their glory. It took about five weeks. I really like the way these feel w/o the finger grooves:

Very nice set of grips. I have a similar set on my 3" 65, but mine has the tung oil finish.

They look great together! Great CC set up you have there with the bobbed hammer. Finish looks great too but will be wearing if you pack it as your SD weapon.
Have a set of the same grips with the FG's and love em. I did sand down the FG's a bit and they ft my hand nicely. Hard to get all 4 fingers on it but I can still shoot 158 gr. Speer Gold Dot .357 mags out of it without losing my grip.
You did well and congrats!

They look awesome. I'm one of those lucky people that Ahrends finger grooves fit my hand perfect though, so I really like his finger groove models. I'm slowly replacing all my smooth fronts now.

How can you tell that the OP's don't? I am trying to decide between the two finishes for my 686.

The tung oil category isn't checked on the label.
I've had Ahrends grips with both the standard finish and the tung oil finish. They're both smooth and don't grab clothing, but the tung oil finish isn't slick. I think it provides a surer grip with the benefits of a smooth finish.

I like a tung oil finish, so I have specified both of my Ahrends grips to be unfinished. That way, I am free to do any re- contouring or thinning and then do the finish work. I order the finger grove model, and round the points off some. I use straight tung oil thinned with progressively smaller amounts of gum turpentine. I like oil, as it looks nice, has a good feel and is easy to touch up. I have used tung oil on oars and kayak paddles and the finish holds up well in salt water.

These grips look great! I'm a big fan of oil finishes. I've made a lot of furniture from cherry and walnut. Oil darkens the wood and brings out the grain.
How does it feel to shoot with boot grips. I'm tempted to put them on my 29-8 Mountain Gun, but .44 Magnum might be a bit much.

My personal preference is non checkered, but with finger grooves. Great looking grips!

I'm an amateur woodworker and familiar with finishing techniques, so this is what I will do too. Thanks for the idea,
