Model 18-4
So, in your opinion, what is a pinned barrel mdl 18 worth? gun is in 98% condition. I think I can get it for $500.

I would buy it. But I already own a couple K-22's and the fever has taken hold.. so I could be biased

In my parts, it would easily bring that money. You just do not see a lot of turnover in the K-22's. The last one I picked up was 350 a couple of years ago and I actually feel it was a gift.

If you want a new one you will pay ~$700 or so and it will have that funny hole by the cylinder latch. I just paid $525 for an 18-3 with the box but nothing else. probably a little lower condition than you described, but not much. Shoots great, very accurate.
Be very careful of one thing, K-22s are like rabits and multiply like crazy. I have bought 4 in the last couple months. Sold a duplicate so I only net ahead three

I've never seen a used model 18 for sale in PA. Purchased my 18-3 off the forum classifieds for around the price you're looking at and considered it a very good deal.

I paid $50 more for one in similar condition two years ago so I wouldn't hesitate to buy one at that price. I now also have a 18-3 in near mint condition that came with all the goodies and I paid $700 for it which was probably $50 to much but I wanted the revolver.
They are great revolvers and there is a lot of demand for them say compared to a Model 17 with 6 inch barrel.

That would be a very good price here in central Ca., if you could find one for sale. Better get it bought before someone else buys it!

That's a good price - I paid about $550 (w/box) for mine about 2 years ago and they only get more expensive IMO.
Here's a pic of mine:

I paid $475 for my 18-3 about two years ago at a LGS. As an earlier poster said, I almost never see them in PA. It had no box and aftermarket grips, but was otherwise at least 98%+. Afer looking at the prices they are going for today. I feel I did well. Here's some pics, I added the factory targets from the wood pile. After these pictures were taken, I switched the stocks to a pair of football targets I found. They were more period correct since this revolver dates to 1971.
The K22s are really addictive. I started with an 8 3/8" 17 with the 3Ts, and ended up having to have one of every barrel length.
From top:
8 3/8" 17-3
6" 5 screw pre-17 from 1951
4" 18-3
