S&W 18-3 price check and more
I went to the Harrisburg Gander Mountain today to pick up a model 10 2 inch I have on layaway. The service there is mediocre and I had to wait a bit. While I was waiting, I noticed an 18-3 in the case. It was priced at $599. Which is more than I wanted to spend. But when I finally got to check it out I found that it had next to no wear. I put down the deposit. The serial # is15K49XX. Can anyone tell me the born on date? Approximately would be fine.

Thanks for the info, and yes, I'll probably love it forever. I could tell when I picked it up that it needed to be mine. And it will be.

I thought the same. One of my Sig 229s will likely have to go to pay for it. Maybe the 9mm. I have 4 other Sig 9mms, but only the one 229 in 40.
An idiot on another forum said I was in need of psychiatric help for committing to a pistol I couldn't really afford. I responded that it was maybe irresponsible, but not irrational. Plus, I'm single with no kids. Not hurting anyone but me if it goes south, financially. Not to mention that I have seen next to no 18-3s in a very long time. They just don't come along. So by some chance one did, and at a place that has layaway, I'd say my decision is one that hardly needs further explanation.

Last I checked we are still free to spend our money on what we want unless that's been taken away also. Great taste in guns as besides a couple of custom 1911's my other main stay pistols are Sig's. I have a bunch of S&W revolvers but for personal defense I use Sig's. My carry gun is a Sig P228 and my home defense guns are a pair of P226's with one being a 9mm and the other a 40 S&W.
You will love the Model 18 by the way.

I picked up a nice 18-3 on a FTF purchase with another local forum member for $500 last year. One of my favorite guns, you will love yours!

You will likely REALLY enjoy the 18. They are hard to find, especially in the condition you describe. Price seems about right for what you're getting. You can get another SIG pretty easy, if you lament it's absence. I don't think you will, once you take the 18 to the range.

It's YOUR money. YOU earned it. Spend it any way YOU like.
I think you will be very happy with your purchase.

Those model 18's are so bad I have to own 2 of them just to confirm how bad they are. And I had to get a couple 4" 17s just to make sure.
18-3
18-4
17-5
17-6
