Default Need current value input..........

Nickle M-36, no -, pinned, wooden grips, cant remember the whole serial but ends w/2021.....crane opening shows no -. Seller claims 1970, it is with a correct no - box w/papers, but serial # block has obviously been removed. Headed back there now on a different errand.

Ask is $500. Apparently not a bargain or it would have been gone by now.......... He is at the flea mkt today, but is a local. Not sure if he will be there tomorrow but I can go to his house if I have to.....

Give me an idea where to start offering....I have only a newer Lady Smith in the little gun arena.

info is a little sketchy. $500 just hits me as a little steep. Where to start on price? Dont know without pics and more info. All the ones I have I carry
and are somewhat warn. I have a nickle 2" I keep in the shop. I paid $210.
It is worn but shoots great.

It all depends on condition. If it New In Box the price is just O.K., if it has typical used wear marks, it is about $100 too high. The Nickle makes it worth about $50 to $75 more than a blue one.

Here's what I have for a track on the blued Model:

Smith & Wesson 36 1-7/8 in barrel Revolver in .38 Spl. Blue Book of Gun Values (35th Edition) indicates between $465 in 95% condition and $650 in 100% condition for this gun and adds $20 for nickel finish.

I have 79 recorded prices for this model gun from $250 to $600 over a period of 7 Yrs 9 Mos ending September 30, 2015. The average price as of that date was $412. No refurbs, no refinishes, regular sights. All represented as 95% or better. No distinction for engineering revision, if any, no special editions, no distinctions for box, papers, tools. Current or last MSRP is $822.

The last 10 prices I have for this model since 11/26/2014 range from $375 to $575 averaging $465. It would seem the average price is increasing modestly. Better example would command higher than average prices, especially with carton, tools, papers, and so on.

This is a like new example, original owner kept it in a cloth baggy in the orig. box.........and get this great story, he removed the serial portion of the label from the box when he purchased it in 1970 & scotch taped it to his homeowners ins policy for safe keeping just in case. Of course, no one can locate it now. I have seen more than one collectible gun surface in an estate missing key a part, usually the bolt, that was removed to "keep the kids from hurting someone."........

If he hasnt sold the gun by this evenings church time, I am going to offer $400 & be prepared for a bit more.

Default Lust

"lusted after 3" gun.......".......doubt I would let a over paid situation bother me. I have way more than a few guns, so I am not lusting after this one & Donna has not seen it. We are going to a gun auction together Friday evening. Will see how the 36 looks after..........

Very brief phone chat w/seller this evening tells me he didnt sell it & is not really concerned about it.....??? Will take $500. no less.

S&W is kind of a side line collectible for me. I tend to like the blue lined wooden boxed guns. I will shop local bigger show for the M-57 in 2 wks.

This 36 would be a "whim" purchase. Probably why I didnt go get it this evening........
