Age of Model 60 revolver
Greetings all,
I was just gifted a S&W Model 60 .38 Special.
It's serial number is R71xxx
Can anyone tell me the age of this weapon?

Email S&W w/the serial and model #. They get back to you in about a week w/DOB.

1970--1973 R30001----R99999 so maybe 1972
nice early mdl.60

You really don't need to tell people to go someplace else for help. I don't recall ANYONE asking for a DOB on here and not getting a quick, respectful, answer.

M60
This is my M60 I bought new in 1972 SN R67XXX. It was my BUG until 1975 when I bought my M38 Bodyguard.

The issue with tagging onto someone else's thread is that your inquiry sometimes gets missed. Next time you have a question, start a new thread so it doesn't end up like this one. Your Model 60 dates to about 1982.
