My newest acquisition....
I had to go to Detroit for medical testing this morning. On the way home I thought I'd stop in at Michigun, a nice gun shop. I've been on a nostalgia kick; my last 4 guns bought before this were a 1920 Schmeisser #1 6.35mm pistol, Colt Agent, Enfield Mk 2 No. I** (DAO), and a Rossi Ranch Hand in .45 Colt.
So without further ado, here is my new S&W Chief's Special 3" Nickel, in the box, with papers...
The warranty statement, printed inside the bottom half of the silver and blue hashmark box is printed with the date April 15, 1955. The other end of the box (opposite the description) matches the gun and its serial number.
I don't know when it was made; anyone know?

I have never seen a 3" RB M36. When I was a truck driver in CA 1970s-1990s the CHP enforcement officers all wore 3" M36s on belts over their coveralls but all were square butt models.

On a historical note - I went to Viet Nam on the USS MIDWAY in April, 1972; almost 40 years ago!

I also have a 3" RB M36, but in blue. It's in excellent condition with the original box. Most of the 3" 36's I have seen have been SB's though.
