Model 10-5 Date Of Manufacture?
Purchased a Model 10-5 2 Inch Blued Revolver with a serial #D98XX from a close friend and was curious about the date of manufacture? Any help on this would be greatly apreciated in advance Thanks Winchester66

I don't think that you have enough numbers in the serial number. A Model 10-5 with a D-serial number of 6 digits, starting D89XXXX would be 1976-1977.

The Model 10-5 started in 1962 and the "D" letter prefix started in late 1967 at D1. Serial number D98XX would likely be 1968.

finding manufacture date
I have a Smith and Wesson 38 special 6" barrel. Its serial number is D385749. I would like to know when it was made. It was my fathers, and I remember him firing it in the mid to late 50s. I recently used it to qualify for my conceal carry permit. Thank you for any help you can give me.

D385749 dates to the 1971-72 time frame.
