Smith & Wesson 25-2
I stopped by my lgs and they have a 25-2 in approx. 95% condition with the presentation case. The cylinder has a faint turn line. Other than that the stocks are beautiful and there are no other marks on the revolver. Comes with a 6 in barrel and the bore is clean and crisp. The asking price is 700.00. Is this a good deal or about the standard price? I know pictures would allow for a better assessment but I was unable to get any today. Thanks for your help.

I have a 25-2 in not nearly as good condition as what you describe and that's about what I paid for it a few years ago, and I was happy to get it at that price. It's just about my sweetest shooting revolver. I'd be all over that for $700.

That's not a bad price, ask the out-the-door price which includes the tax. Let us know what you decided. Larry

I agree with FlyFish, they are very nice revolvers. I have one that I bought with no box years ago and from your description of the package I don't think I would hesitate to purchase it for that price.

I would buy it. IMHO it is good price. I don't think you will find another one like at that price.

Thanks so much for the information. I think I'm going to contact the lgs and see what the OTD price will be.

The 6" barrel makes it a later production gun (after '79). many guys want the 6.5" because it is the original length barrel, but I greatly prefer the 6" over the 6.5" length on any N frame. For that price, I think you'd do well even before tax, especially if all the tools and paperwork is included with the presentation case, and the case itself doesn't need re-finishing inside like many of them do.
I picked up a 6.5" gun a couple years ago with the case and tools in excellent condition for $500, but I'll likely never see a deal like that again.

If you want a 45 ACP/AR buy it. What Smith can you buy today that even comes close for $700. I love mine with AR brass and the Kieth 250 gr SWC (Lyman 429421) bullet.

I hope by this time you have it in hand. $700 in that condition is a great deal. One of the most fun shooting guns. I just had mine out Sun. and with White box ball ammo was like a laser. Mine is not the best with cast bullets, but great with factory ball. I'm thinking of using it to do my qualifications for CCL in IL soon.

I just paid $600 for one here in California. Mine is in good shape, but no box and no papers.
I'd pay $700 for the one you mentioned.

I called the lgs and they are holding it for me. I will not be able to pick it up until Tuesday. Soon as I get it I will post pictures. Thanks so much for all of the help. The final price was 700 out the door.

Love mine. A lot of times, I don't bother with moon clips or use Auto Rim which I load also... just use the target loaded ACP & flip em out with a handy fingernail.

Model 25-2
BUY IT.....I don't see that many 25-2's to begin with, let alone in the case, etc .....I have one that I bought back in the 70's and if I walked in my LGS and saw one as you described for the price you mention....it would be mine, mine, mine.

Fun gun to shoot especially with the full moon clips. Yea, WE NEED SOME PICS of the 25-2 and a range report. They don't come up for sale often and are usually higher priced then your's. Have fun, Larry
