Questions and more questions about a 27-2 from a nube
Let me begin by saying I'm not a Smith & Wesson enthusiast, but have recently purchased a 27-2 from a co-worker who inherited it from his recently passed uncle. I want to buy a Bushmaster and thought I got a good deal on this revolver with the intention of either trading it or selling it outright to get the $ to buy a bushmaster.
I know very little about S&W revolvers...but am amazed at the knowledge some of the guys on this forum have...understandly so as avid collectors. Most of the research I have done on this revolver has come from reading other posts.
So just to give you some background... The revolver has a serial number S31110xx (I think) which would make it mfgrd in 1968ish. I took it to a pawn shop (just to get its value) and the guy wasn't very helpful with that...He told me I should hold on to it...He further said he would rate it at 99% and didn't think it had ever been fired. He told me he didn't think it had even been loaded. (but I'm sure it had been loaded 'cause the guy I bought it from gave me 6 bullets in a ziploc that he said came out of it. It is blued not nickel or stainless.
My questions are...What is the best way to sell it? Should I post it on a forum such as this or one like gunsamerica or another auction type website? If I do sell it is it illegal to just mail it? How do I receive the funds? Does the fact that I have a carry permit even matter? How can I find out its value so that I don't undersale?
Thanks in advance for the answers to the above Q's. I can post pics later if that would help answer any of the questions. Let me know what if any additional info you need to address my questions.
Thx, Jeff
