Default Need help quick with rattle coming from my M28

I have noticed that on my 28-2 that it has a distinct rattle when you tilt it forward or back with the hammer down. With the hammer cocked it will not do it. I have the sideplate off and the hammer block out and it still does it. I have narrowed it down to what I believe is the trigger lever. Is this normal? if not how can I fix it? HELP! It is driving me nuts trying to figure it out.

Figured it out. It's my guide rod in the rebound slide. No biggie I guess just never heard it in my other S&W's. Maybe it's a little dry?

I believe newer ones do not have a guide rod inside the rebound spring, like the older ones.

It is not a "guide rod" at all. The rod inside the trigger return spring limits trigger movement. It is a trigger overtravel stop and is intended to give the SA trigger pull a crisp break without the external trigger overtravel stop that the K frame masterpieces used to have.

Quite often the trigger stop rods gets lost and is replaced with something else that's too skinny or too short and it rattles. See if the trigger travels backward after it trips the trigger. If it does the rod is too short and not performing its function.
