Default Was this a good decision?

A couple of nights ago, I was checking the local gun trader board, and noticed a fellow there was listing a Model 29, 4", TH,TT, two sets of "goodyear" grips (later a set of rosewood factory grips were added). He had a price listed, but said he really wanted to trade for a Glock 19.

I read through the adds, and several people had posted "I'll take it" but down toward the bottom the OP stated that he'd been offered some really good deals, but no Glocks which was what he really wanted.

I sort of laughed and told my wife about it. She said, "Tell him you'll swap my Glock 19 for it. I don't use it anymore." So I did.

We made the deal last night. Her Glock (a 3rd gen) looked to be in unfired condition. The 29 wasn't quite that good but was plenty good. I did have to throw in a few buck to make the deal, but since the Glock was just gathering dust, in a file drawer, I figure I got a Model 29-2, (SN N133XXX) for less than what a beat up Model 10 would sell for.

Not the best pictures in the world, but it's still early out.

Now I just wonder how much that Glock is REALLY going to cost me.

I think you made a great decision. I"d rather have a 4 inch N frame over a Glock any day.

Ummmm, let's ponder this a little. A beautiful 4", P&R'd, S&W Model 29 for a run of the mill, black plastic Glock, right? In my estimation, you did good, real good brother !

Great trade. There is nothing like a model 29. I have a nickle 29-2 4" with TT TH I bought new in the 70"s. It will be passed on when I pass on. Enjoy a true classic. Also try some 44 specials you will have a blast with that one my friend.

Thanks everybody. I was being tongue in cheek with the title. I knew it was.

And so there is no misunderstanding, the seller knew what he had too. He just didn't want it anymore, he wanted a Glock, but it wasn't an even trade. I had to throw in a couple hundred bucks to even it out, but even at that I think I got a good deal.

Nice gun and great trade but here is a better one!

I will trade you my Glock 19 and $205, that would be a quick profit.

CajunBass,
You got a Smokin' great deal!!. I think I would have run out and bought a Glock to make that deal if I had the chance. Was that on this forum? If so I missed it. Although I am on restriction from buying any guns right now. I've been a little over aggressive in my lust for steel and wood!!

Wow I never thought of that. Your wife actually owns that 29. She should sell it to you for $850. That will get her another Glock and several pair of new shoes!! Beware of the things you take from your wife...)

I am aware of that one. I saw it on the same site and I offered the seller something a good bit more valuable than a Glock and he turned it down for the plastic. I was left scratching my head over that one. A good M29-2 4" for a plastic pistol and some cash? Well, I guess there is no explaining some folks' choices. Yeah, you got a hell of a deal...I hate you!...lol...Congratulations

You would have come out all right trading TWO Tupper-, I mean Glocks for that 29. I have a few Glocks, might have to consider them "bait".

I got her a 65-5 Ladysmith not too long ago. She loves that gun now. That one and her 1905, 4th change she got a few weeks ago.

The Glock was her carry gun at one time. Then a ruptured aneurysm in her brain, left her unable to carry. Her short term memory was damaged, and she's afraid she'll leave her purse somewhere and forget it, so she made the decision to stop on her own. She still loves to go to the range though.

You mean you traded the latest in polymer technology for an old fashioned carbon steel wheelgun?
Good job, beautiful gun.
Given the chioce of an all steel revolver or the latest plastic fantastic wondernine, I'd go for the wheelgun everytime.
