The Current Trend - Gotta have a Model 28! PICS
Everybody wants one.... most everybody has one, now I do too!
I've been looking for the Highway Patrolman of my dreams.... but I can't afford that one. Well, last month I saw a model 28-2
listed here on the Forum and I thought it was exactly what I was looking for at a decent price. Six inch barrel, target grips, box
and all the documents and a sealed tool kit.I made a reasonable offer that was accepted and the gun belongs to me now.
Much to my surprise, when I received the gun, the owner included a factory letter which shed some light on the date of shipment
and where it went from the factory. Also in the box was the original sales receipt from the gun shop where the gun was sold
brand new in 1977. I have included a picture of the sales receipt and painted out the owners last name. Just look at those
prices from 35 years ago wouldn't you like to have todays money back then?
Well lets get to the pictures.
First is the gun with the box and documents. (sellers photo).
Now for the fun part. I used the photo editing software to create some GLAMOR SHOTS!
The next one is my favorite:
And lastly is the original sales receipt.
Thanks for indulging me and my artistic side. Happy Collecting! Bob

Hi Bob,
Thanks. Believe it or not, my son told me about a new editing program on the net and it is not only easy to use but for now anyways....it's free!
PicMonkey - Photo Editing Made of Win
I hope it's ok to post a link here. They give you some photos on the home page to practice on and they are still adding features so give it a try. Bob

Very nice indeed! gotta love the 28s! By the way it looks like you forgot to blank out the owner's name on the old sales receipt.

Thanks. Yes, his last name is painted over in yellow and is not visible. Bob

You have done very well, Sir. Now that you've had time to look at it and fondle it a little, you can go ahead and send to me for storage.

Very nice Highway Patrolman.
I'm curious about the receipt though. It says "1 set earphones". What is that I wonder?

Great gun, and pics! I got my 28 no dash on Christmas day 2011, GB.
A 6 incher, super clean too. (1960) Shoots great now that I tightened the strain screw, ( some light strikes) My favorite Smith to date. Enjoy your 28! Bob

Damn, he got taken!!! $185 for a 28-2. I paid $120 for my 28-2 which included 2 boxes of ammo, target grips, a bullet mould, and 310 Tool. Man, inflation was going at supersonic speed between 74 and 77.
Enjoy your 28-2. They are great revolvers. One of the best revolver buys of any time. The quality of a 27(sans the finish) at about 70% of the cost. I still have mine. At the time SW sold target grips in several sizes. The targets that I bought were rated as medium targets and are the best revolver grips I own. All that I can find today are the larger grips which are too big for my hands.
Now, go and shoot the 28. Expect a report from you.

Very nice M28-2.
Using an inflation calulator, $185.00 in 1977 is equal to $729 in 2012.
I'd rather have your m28 than anything S&W is selling today for that price.

If this isn't your dream 28 then what is?!? I mean I get hunting down a rare model, or prefering a predash, but at some point the completeness of the package and condition of the gun has to win out. If I may ask, what is your dream 28?
Anyway, excellent gun, great pics(as a photoshop User I find it hard to believe that was done online. I will definitely check that site out because it might come in handy)
