Default Couple Model 36 questions

Is 1 7/8" barrel unusual?
Any idea what, if anything, the marks in the pic indicate? Pic isn't very clear, sorry. There's a "4". A "6" inside a circle above a dot and an "X".

1 7/8" barrel on a M36 is standard.

Can't speak to the markings on the crane...
