Hello,
I was at my local range today and spoke with a fellow there who mentioned that S&W had a bad run of cylinders specifically in the Model 25 chambered in 45 Colt. The cylinders were bored slightly larger than they should have been.
He says to see if you have one that was an issue.......open the cylinder and drop a cast bullet sized at .452 down each chamber. The bullet should stop at the front of the cylinder and be able to be pushed through with ease. In other words, there should be some resistance.
So, I did that test with several cast bullets and my bullets dropped through with NO resistance whatsoever.
Now I need to know if this is an issue or ???
His claim was that his friend owned one like this and the accuracy was all over the map.....he could not get his to shoot a tight group even when rested.
To be honest, I have not shot this particular revolver very much and tested it for grouping, etc.
Thoughts?
NOTE::: I tried this with my Model 29 and a .429 cast bullet and the bullet stopped in each cylinder and I was able to push them through. But they did not drop through as they did with the 45 colt.
