Red face Old S&Ws

I attend about 12-15 gunshows a year, some of the big ones and mostly the local ones with 350 tables or less. I will sometimes have a table with my gunshow buddy but mostly, I hunt for the shooters that hide in the remote corners of the table or the guy looking to turn over his old Smith for money to buy a black gun or to get a tank of gas for the PU. I really don't buy but 4-5 guns a year. Yes, prices have gone thru the roof in the past 3 years and yes they are crazzzzzy. But with patience and tenacity one can be very successful at acquiring the Smith of his choise at a reasonable price. In the past year I landed 2 TRs, 2 44HEs, a postwar OD and others. There are Model 19s out there that can be had for 400.00. For those of us too old to hunt Grizz this chase has become good sport. Happy Hunting.

Sorry for the way this may sound to some, but.....

This is why I'm perfectly happy with my M10's.....and couldn't care less about the so-called "premium" model S&W's. I got a nice M10-5 snubby (1972) a few months ago, at a gun show, for $275 plus tax. It was barely fired - and it's not even fully broken in yet.

I'll leave the crazy prices, for models that are no better than my 10's (prettier only, perhaps) to everyone else. To each his own.

Put a box of .357's through a M-19, then touch the barrel. That's pretty hot...

I agree.... however, the Model 19 is a .357 which puts it into a different class than the Model 10, despite the fact the a lot of people shoot mostly .38's from their Model 19's. So it's more than just being prettier.

I got this 19-4 about a month ago. It came with options , box, tools and papers for a little under $600.00 OTD. Yes a small scuff over top of rear of cylinder.

Got this one a little while back from a private seller. It is in good shape, no box or accessories, but a good solid piece. Price was fair for me and for the seller. Turn line is pronounced, but the rest of the gun has very few signs of being carried.

Going through this thread and I just had to check; got my blue four inch 19-4 for $395.00, but that was six years ago. It's definitely 99%, looks to be unfired, but no box or goodies. Realistically, I would say this might be worth $600 now, but we all know gun prices are over inflated.

On the other hand, I have a blue six inch 19-2 that I paid $600 for in 2008. This was about the only real mistake I made with internet purchases because I bought it with no pictures. The guy told me it was absolutely 100%. Well, it's a real nice gun with original box, but more like 97%; has a few handling marks on the diamond grips and some light marks in the blue which lead me to believe someone put it in a holster, but they are very light marks. Otherwise, by the recoil plate, cylinders and usual signs, it also appears to be unfired. At least it's surely worth $600 today.

I "overpaid" for my pretty little 4" 19-2...$350.00 several years ago (pre-obama). I don't think I'm gonna lose money on the deal if I ever decide to sell...which I won't...unless some idiot (or someone smarter than me) offers me four digits.
