Help with dating 2 revolvers
Would someone please check your book for me? I am looking for the DOB for two revolvers:
1-Model 60 no dash, ser # R26164x. I bought it new in the early 70's but can't remember which year. The gun store had to order it from S&W and I waited about 6 mths for it.
2-Model 10-6 ser#C77668x. I was issued this one in 1970 and later bought it when my dept updated our carry guns. I know that I wasn't the first to carry it.
Thanks in advance.

Model 60 would be 1979-80 and the Model 10 would be 1963-65. That's as close as the book says. Others may be able to give you a closer estimate.

#1 R SERIAL PREFIX 1979-1980 R220001- R280000
#2 C SERIAL PREFIX 1963-1965 - C622700=C810532
The above is what the 3rd ED SCSW is saying, but doesn't coinside with your findings. Hummm... I fixed it!

Thank you. Both of you have the same information on the m10 which I'm sure is correct. Since I bought the 60 brand new in 1970 and its possible that I ordered it in 1969, I guess that Rags is correct. I appreciate the info.

Ok, my memory may be faulty here. Maybe it was purchased in 79 or 80. I have to rethink this.

The trick to dating two revolvers is to never let one find out about the other.
