I used to have a brushed nickel 442. For me, though, the brown or yellowish hue is just off-putting, despite its corrosion resistance. For a 'white' gun, I far prefer matte stainless.

The more bling the better! Nickle just really makes you stand up and take notice.
Besides, when you get dressed up to go to the BBQ, nothing says fancy like nickle....

Love Nickel S&W's. They were favored by Peace Officers back in the day. More intimidating than Blued guns. I was told once, "Officer, dem shiny guns shoots harder".

You sure about that? S&W didn't recess the cylinders on nonmagnum centerfire revolvers.

May I ask what a 15-3 like this one sells for? I don't have a dealer or gun-shows of any worth here. Beautiful revolver sir!

You guys really get into collecting don't you. I never was much of a collector. I'd rather buy one used and shoot it and not care about getting a ding or scratch on it. Anyway, those are some pretty S&W's, thank's for sharin' them.

Right on Art,
Some of these guys photos look like they shoot cameras
as much as their guns. Stunning work with the camera.
Wish i could do that.

Ahh rags, nickel guns are just plain pretty. Yes, gun money burns hotter than regular money. If I had saw that M15, I would have had to have it as well.

Hey HP. Back then most all Nickel guns came in the gray/silver 2 piece boxes. Someone will be along soon to tell you the years that Bangor Punta guns were in this type box. ( I love saying Bangor Punta...)
I think this one is around 1979/1980. Will know for sure by the end of the day...

Since this IS about Nickel, I asked the OP and he granted me permission.
The last OGCA meeting in March, while perusing for said 27-2 3 1/2" Blued treasure, I was really blinded by the light!
19-5 2 1/2" (no box) 27-2 5" (presbox and everything)

Grips are Ahrends black/silver dymondwood and they don't have any more right now. I tried to get another set to round out a "collection" and they told me their source had dried up.

I ran in to a blued 27-2 at a LGS and it was gorgeous. I really started to consider it. It was on consignment for $650 and there could've been a little wiggle room. Then, as I was really looking closely at it, I noticed that the previous owner etched his badge number in to the side below the latch. It was very slight but I knew it wasn't for me.

I love the nickel S&Ws. I was very surprised to see a very nice nickel 15-4 in a pawn shop a couple of months ago at a great price. It followed me home. Shoots great.

This is my "rescue/shooter" 27-2. I found it at a PHX gun show several years ago with a Hoppe's #9 finish. I shot it a lot but finally got sick of the "zits". I sent it back to S&W's P.C. for a re-nickel and mechanical checkup. I am now into it for $740. No box, no paper, no tools... but an ALL-FUN shooter that looks good at an Arizona BBQ!

I like nickel guns but why would they ever use a nickel front sight. That would be nearly impossible to see in sun light.
