2 questions: The small screw that holds the front of the rear

sight to the frame. Is this the same for all Smith adjustable sight revolvers?

Second While attempting to put in a new sight leaf on my model

19 the small spring and indent launched themselves and are

some where in my shop.

Where to get the indent and spring and where to get the screw

that goes into the frame? I didn't loose it I think it is wise to

have spares, I already know my track record Thanks

these parts are available from Midwayusa.com If you order from Smith you wait forever.

Did the same thing, except found them. Then, I used the recommended practise of putting the Smith in a large clear plastic bag to do the work. At least you should find it next time.

The screw in the front of the sight leaf that holds it to the frame is NOT the same on all S&W revolvers.

The old style sights had a tiny screw that was the same for all S&W revolvers of the day.
The new style sights have a larger diameter screw.
This screw has a noticeably larger screw head.

By"Older Style Sights" could you define that? Do the Smiths made in the 60s. 70s and 80s have the new style front sight screw? Thanks

The screw was also in different locations over the years, so interchangeability is not guaranteed...

S&W went to the new style sight sometime in the early to mid 1990's.

Again, the old style sight had an almost tiny flat headed screw in the sight leaf that is flush with the leaf.
The new style has a noticeably larger slightly rounded head screw that stand up out of the leaf just slightly.

There is a pre-WW II adjustable rear sight that has one type of leaf screw, as dfariswheel noted. I think the Micrometer (click adjustable) leaf as seen from the K-22 Second Model until the early-mid 1990s all should have the same screw; this is the most common type. The last and current type, which has a rounded front edge, has a different screw.
