M29-2 6 1/2 from Germany
Hello
i´m Jan from Germany. I´m 33years old and i just bought a M29 6 1/2 for use on the range.
They are not easy to find over here
The serial number is N72481.
Here a pic of the gun
i think i´ll make some new insert for the box in a little darker blue and the it will be a nice thing for use at the range.
I´d like to know when the gun was made because i only know that it was approved in 1977 by the german gun control.
Thanks
Jan

It's probably older than mine which dates to around 1973.
Nice gun.

Your 29-2 was most likely shipped in early 1973 (possibly late 72). I notice the red ramp front sight has been replaced by a Patridge type front sight blade (most likely for target shooting).
Nice revolver you should enjoy!!

congrats Jan,
I owned a 29 Nickle 6" in the 1980s for target shooting, but sold it in 1990. I regret it ever since. Deadly accurate at 25 meters if you do your job.
regards
Ulrich
PS I'm in Germany too.

Hi
thanks for the info.
Yes the Front sight has been replaced and a triggerjob has been done. The prevouis owner told me that its adjustet to 1300gramm . He used it for tagret matches and then stored it in a safe for 20years.
The original front sight and the parts of the trigger are with it.
i´m really happy i finaly found one here in Germany.
I wanted to have that gun since i´ve seen the Dirty Harry films first time.
Jan
PS: Ulrich where you live in Germany?

Very nice, I just used a currency converter and 610 Euro is not a bad price! A little under $800 USD. I wish I could find a Korth for that!

Yes, good price for a 29-2 and goodies in Europe
In Italy no way you can find a 29-2 less than 1000*

Good looking revolver and other goodies.I agree that an expert relining job of the case in more traditional "S&W blue" (for that era) would improve the case. It might surprise you to know the original S&W 44 Magnums came in a different style of case, but it was lined in a color similar to what you have in your mahogany case - a rather light shade of blue compared to the more modern versions.
At 1300g, your trigger is not far from factory specification, if my experience is any guide, so I wonder what the gunsmith did to it that required replacing part of the trigger... ? In any case, it looks like a very nice gun. I would put the red ramp sight back on it, but that is just me.

1300g in Double Action Mode is what the prev. owner said. It has been used for speed disciplines.

Hi Jan,
I live near Paderborn. My 29 had the same wooden case, with a foam lining with dark blue tissue surface. How does it shoot? Is 1300 for DA not a bit too light?
regards
Ulrich

I am very interested to know how your M29 has been modified to get such a light DA ! Is it possible to have some good (macro) pictures of the action, under the side plate (in MP if you like) ? Thanks in advance !
