S&N say 1969-70. Nothing wrong with having a nickel 36. I kind of prefer nickel for a carry gun, particularly pocket carry.

Hi G.Believe it or not 640 gun 2 became a barrel launcher and I am getiing a model 36 as a replacement. If you want to make the gun really pop get some Mother's Mag Polish and use it with finger pressure only.Buff it down with a soft clean cloth and them apply a Good coat of rennasaince wax.The new blued Model 36 is going to have to work OT to get into carry rotation as my confidence in New S+W revolvers is @ a all time low......Mike

This is my nickel-plated Model 37, Chief's Special Airweight.

You'll like your Model 36.

I like nickel guns! Many don't but as said earlier they make for a more durable finish especially in humid areas. I just started waxing a few of my guns and I believe it does make a difference in retarding rust and fingerprints etc.
