Default M27-2 numbered grips ?

I noticed many posters mention that their 27-2 come with matching s/n in the grips. Is that normal or only some come that way. My 1978 has the correct grips but no numbers in them.
Can someone tell me which type of grips I have?

Thanks

I just picked up a Model 58 with serial #N272xxx . Stocks not numbered. The date is approx. 1977. According to SCS&W the numbering stopped mid to late 70's. Pics to come. Just walked in the door.
