27-2?s help W/Info
Looked at a 27-2 at a semi local pawn shop it had an 8-3/8s barrel nice condition clean no abuse it had no box etc . What looked weird was that the sight tang top strap) protruded forward on the frame towards the barrel
aprox 1/8to a 1/4 inch was not sure if this is proper also the front part towards the barrel was squared off not rounded. The asking price was 799.00 I am sure I could negotiate a reduced price as when I deal with the owner he is receptive to negotiations. All screws where nice and all lines crisp and clean ser# N 161XXX any help would be appreciated. Also some price help would be great. Thanks

That's a little more than what I would want to pay for a boxless example of the long barrelled 27. I'd say that $550-600 is probably a typical price around here where I trade. Asking prices will of course be more, but when money actually changes hands I'd say my figure would be pretty darn close.
Others might disagree, but I can still remember buying quite a few of these guns for under $400...
The condition you describe with the rear sight leaf is pretty typical for early 70's guns. Unless the fitment of the windage adjustment drum was not precise into the frame at the rear of the assembly, it should be okay... I looks pretty slap-dash, but it's functional.

Sebago Son, Thank you
I did not have my book with me and was not looking for a 27 at the time, Minus studying up The sight concerned me so I did not entertain any discussion with the owner on pricing, he usually negotiates to a prudent number but I did not want to negotiate till I was certain on correctness of the sight. It was one of the cleaner 27s I have seen locally. Price wise I thought the neighborhood of 600.00 ish was a good point to be at. I have done quite a bit of cash business in the shop and have always been happy where we ended up
Thanks again
