s&w model 31-1 revolver s/n 746591..wondering if anyone could give me a date on this gun. it was my grandfathers 32 and has pearl grips. are these grips possibly original or does anyone think they may have been changed out by him. any info would be greatly appreciated

Cool M31-1
Hey BH the catalog is a little fuzzy on M31s. But from all indications it was Mfd somewhere between 1961 and 1970. pearl stocks are probably not standard. This little J frame probably come with S.B. diamond checkered magnas. I have a 31-1 that I sometimes carry, because it carries six rounds. most larger cal. J frames only carry five. hope this helps

Hello bloodhound man,
Closest I can come for you is S/N 7952XX shipped August,
1967. Maybe someone else can narrow it down a little closer.

thanks for the info. i know it was made prior to 1967 because that is when he passed away
