Anyone have any surplus 3" K frames?
I dont know if i am posting this in the right area. But has anyone seen any 3" K frames still for sale? It looks like last year some of the venders like Buds gunshop and a few others brought in a bunch of model 10 3" surplus guns. I am looking for something along those lines to use as a CCW gun. So it does not need to be exactly that gun. But hopfully that will give you a idea of what i am looking for. I am not always familure with what companies to check to see who is importing what. Any ideas?

Re: Anyone have any surplus 3" K frames?
Check with Standard Law Enforcement Supply in New York. They have a web site and they had 3 inch (model 64-5s), k-frames in stock last month when I ordered mine. They also sell on gunbroker. Just be advised that the price of 3" is headed up fast.

Honestly i have not really decided, i am pretty open. I have a couple 642/442 and then a 4" 686. I kind of want something etween the two in size or weight. I have looked at some 3" k frames but they might be a little big for CCW. Then i have looked at a 3" J frame and think it might be a little small. I have also looked at a flat latch 36. I think it wuld be nice to have a steel J frame with exposed hammer. Might be a little nicer to shoot than the Airweights. I am really kind of open.

Not too hijack your Thread, I've been looking for 3" KFrames for months. Coming up empty. I started asking around for a Model 13, 3" nothing, then just a Model 13 in 4" nope. Moved on to just 3" K Frame...NADA Now I'm at the point of settling for just a KFrame period, although I don't have a need for a 6" To Be Honest, I've stayed away from the LGS's since Sandy Hook...

I looked for the better part of a year for a 3" that would not break the bank. I also started looking for a 3" 13, then included 3 65s and finally 3" 64s. I rarely see a 3" 10 lately. I finally scored just what I was looking for, a 3" 13 that looks NIB. I was seeing that the 65s are ~650, 13s maybe ~100 lower. Even the 64s are getting up to 500.
They are getting harder to find and the decently priced guns get snapped up quick. When you see one at a decent price, better be quick. I missed out so many times for one reason or another.

I just bought a 3" 13 a couple weeks ago, but it cost even more than the prices listed above. They just aren't out there. But then, a few tables down I got an L frame 3" for $500. I was pleasantly surprised there.

I do see K-frame .38s and steel 3" J-frames for sale occasionally locally, but the price has definitely gone up at least $100 across the board in the last few months.

Like a few here, I also searched high and low for a 3" K in .38 or .357. I think I was just a few weeks too late to catch the 3" Aussies when Bud's had them.
Of course, started haunting GB and some went for crazy prices.
Finally did find a 3" M65 that was in good shape on GB, but someone had polished it, not something I was wild about, but can live with since it's a shooter and EDC gun.
No sooner than several days after wringing out the M65 and finding it to be a great gun, the LGS where I work p/t took in a 3" M&P SB 38.
The barrel is tapered, and has not been cut. A 'pre-10' as it were. Shoots as well or better than the M65.
Roy shows ship date of 1958. Nope, have not lettered it.
Boss made me pay $200 for it, so couldn't afford the letter.

I got lucky and pickup up a 3" Model 10-5 from Buds Gunshop last year. Police turn-in from Australia; Victoria as I recall. One of my daughters instantly declared it was hers!!! I knew I should have ordered two.

At this time, I would just wait because the market is just nuts.

Yeah, but is it like gas prices, never going to come back down?

In the case of pre lock 3 inch K-frames, no, IMO they won't be getting any cheaper.
Not when there is nothing as nice or comparable to them being made today. The 3 inch GP100 comes close though. Regards 18DAI

+1 on the GP100 3". If I could not find the k frame I would snap up the GP100 or a security, speed, six.... 3 inch.

Amen to that. I am afraid waiting for any pre lock S&W to come down, let alone a 3" K frame, is going to be a long wait.

I love my Smiths , but I carry a 2-3/4" speed six. They're dirt cheap, don't mind banging it up and they swallow 357s like candy.
That doesn't mean I don't still want a 3" K- frame....

Your boss is an evil, cruel, heartless son of a gun. Making you buy that Model 10 at something like 50% of market. Is he looking for any other help?
