Ran across a smokin' deal this week I just couldn't pass up. A 29-2 6.5" blued triple T all original from 1976 at about 97% I would say. I can't wait to send some lead down range with this beauty
The search is on (FOUND!!) for a nice presentation box if anyone has one & would like to make a donation to a worthy cause :D
Sharing the joy- updated pics with vintage presentation box & some sexy wood range grips I dressed her in.
Keep yer powder dry boys!

I always thought 3 T's meant Target Stocks, Target Hammer, Target Trigger, at least that is what is on my boxes.

Yes. The target trigger, hammer, and stocks are options on many guns. Model 29s came standard with target everything, though. Usually, a particular model comes with target sights or it doesn't - at least in the last few decades, and target stocks, hammer and trigger are optional if they are not standard on the model.

Let me ask more about the 3Ts, please.

Target sights ... does that mean patridge front instead of ramp?

Sgt Lumpy

For real target work, yeah, you'd want a Patridge instead of a red ramp. Generally though, if there is a rear adjustable sight, it is categorized as target sights.

I've never seen one without the triple T's, as you call them?
Steve

Yeah , I've hear target stocks too. And that actually makes more sense.

But I've never seen a Mod.29 or 57 with Magnas. Target stocks were a given.

Lots of N frames have come standard with Magnas, though. The 3T thing applies to many different models, most of which do come standard with Magnas, thus the target stocks are an option.

TH, TT, TS used to be a way of indicating features before the current system, which is crazy. In "for sale" and other listings, it became common to list the model and then say "3Ts" or something to that effect.

It is my understanding that "3Ts" meant target hammer, target trigger, target stocks.

Target hammer, target trigger, target stocks, white outline rear sight nad red ramp front sight were standard on M-29's. This was on all guns, 4", 6", 6-1/2" and 8-3/8" until the 10-7/8" M-29-3 Silhouette model.

Other sights were available as special order items.

If you say so? I'm old enough to have lived through this time and owned many in my day. Just my humble opinion. By the way how old are you 66park?

Gee, Steve. I didn't think my post was deserving of such condescension. Target stocks were not even introduced on N frames until 1952. At that point, they became an option. Magnas were standard on some N frames well into the seventies at least. Before 1952, N frames had either service stocks or Magnas. Check out my avatar, for instance. It's an N frame with service stocks. Magna stocks became available on N frames starting in 1935. Examples of N frames of the model number era that generally came with Magnas are models 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 26, 27, and 28. Models 25, 29, and 57 are examples of models that came standard with target stocks. Below is a picture of my 1970 27-2, which came standard with Magnas. This gun has a standard hammer, trigger and Magna stocks, and could be ordered with target hammer, target trigger, and target stocks. And in referring to "lots of different models," the 3Ts could be ordered on K frames as well as N frames.
