Bucheimer Semi-Shoulder Holster Question.
Since I mostly have older Smiths, I'm partial to classic leather. I have limited knowledge of this holster, but I know I have to have one! My question has to do with the spring steel detachable "hip plate" portion of the holster. Is this piece universal for all Bucheimer Semi-Shoulder holster models? For example, if I have a holster for a J frame, can I pop the holster from the hip plate and put a K frame holster in its place? I noted from old catalogs that all these rigs start with #10xx. I have found a holster in the size I want, but it is missing the plate. I was thinking it may be possible to buy another complete holster for a different size frame, and swap the plate between the two. Has anyone tried this? Thank you.

Brauer Brothers and perhaps others also made this same design. With Brauer Brothers, you could interchange the holster portion with the belt/plate portion. I am not sure about the Bucheimer one.

I'm almost certain the plates are universal.

It appears this was a popular style with several makers. The attached thumbnails are Bucheimer and Heiser. The Heiser ad states the holsters are interchangeable on the plate base.

And that, gentlemen, is why I love this forum. You guys know EVERYTHING. Since you answered that question, maybe I could give you one more: What would be the correct Model # for a 2" J frame? Some people indicate #1015, but the Bucheimer catalog has the number as 1023 for a 2" Chiefs Special. What gives?

I have one for a J-frame and thought I'd help you out but it turns out mine is unmarked except for the Bucheimer snaps. I just checked and there's nothing behind the plate on the back of the holster body as to what model or number it is.

I recently saw one of these listed on ebay. I just did a search & it looks lke there's a couple on there, including a nice one for a k-frame.Not esp cheap though.

Yeah, I've been checking them out too. Only a matter of time before the model# I'm looking for pops up.
