I am new to this site and not exactly sure what I am doing yet, but my wife's grandfather was a deputy sheriff in the 60's and 70's, adn she recently has been given his S&W Model 10 .38. The serial number is D69838, we are just trying to see if anyone could give us info on the year it might have been made. Thanks so Much--- Jake

The Standard Catalog of S&W shows that serial numbers:
D1 through D90000 were shipped n 1968.
