29-2 back home after 14 months at S&W
That's right 14 months. Do I need to mention that they're slammed?
Being one who cannot resist a deal on an N-Frame no matter how beat it is, this one came along a couple years ago.
6-1/2", missing 50% of its finish, endshake and the firing pin bushing needing replacement.
Figured to set it up with a scope for hunter silhouette.
So, I shipped it to S&W with instructions to replace the bushing, correct endshake and refinish (standard blue) as well as instructions to inspect and repair as necessary.
In the months that passed, several calls to customer service revealed that it was still in the queue to be looked at.
Quite a surprise when it showed up today, especially as starting Monday they close for a month!
Parts replaced: Cylinder (with a new type one), target trigger (forged), hand, cylinder stop, frame lug and rear sight blade. Old parts in the box.
And that new cylinder has the nice .430" mouths to add to accuracy.
To say I'm pleased would be the understatement of the week:
This one looks and feels NEW.

They do good work!
It just seems that they have move firearms coming in than they can handle in the time frame customers would like!!!
Of course you could hire more....IF they could locate qualified people....but, then prices would go UP.....

Exactly.
At one time they said ~20,000 guns awaiting estimation with 100s more arriving every day.
I'm impressed that they have maintained their quality revolver work through all this.
And polishing, I've read, is the most time-consuming skill to master.

I'm guessing that wasn't cheap.

It may not have been cheap, but it's beautiful and I'd guess worth every penny.

Did it have the Patridge sight on it when you bought it?

Quote was a bit over $400, but they didn't send the usual itemized work list/statement.
Guess they were in a rush to wrap things up before vacation time!

I installed the patridge before sending it in, and instructed that it not be changed.

They replaced the recessed -2 cylinder with a nonrecessed one?
I'd be PISSED.

Not really, the gun will never have any "collector value" purely a shooter. as such, the new, closer tolerance cylinder is actually a benefit.
And, I still have the original cylinder and hand..
