Default identify

I acquired a model 63 22 LR revolver with serial #86384 on the yoke with an extra "UE4" stamped right under it. Would like to know the history on it. Also if anyone knows if its ok to shoot all other 22 calibers: 22 long, short, and sub sonics.

Thanks,
Damien.

First thing needed is the serial number, which is on the butt of the grip frame. The number you posted is an "assembly number" which has no value in identifying the gun.

Welcome to the forum. Yes, serial number is on the butt of the pistol. And 22LR, 22 Long, Short, Sub Sonic can be fired safely. And we always need pictures.

Very nice. The UE4 is just an inspectors mark. You'll have a lot of fun with that little pistol. Good size to teach young folks on too.

If you like S&W revolvers and want to know more about them get the STANDARD CATALOG OF SMITH&WESSON 3rd edition book by Jim Supica and Richard Nahas.
Nice 63 btw, I'm looking at one myself.

Seems these like all Smith's are up in value. Not sure I have seen a decent one for under $500 in a year or two. Oh, I'm sure they are out there, but not like they once were.

I traded a gun valued at $300 so I would say I got a good deal! I would never sell it but I was interested. It's going to be a family shooting pistol for generations to come. Thanks everyone for your help.

The one I was looking at was priced at $550 and they wouldn't negotiate. I browse a lot of LGS and I believe this is only the second one I've seen in a few years. Do you guys see them on a regular basis?
