Hello Guys
I have been wondering what is the best long term care for NOS guns. In order to avoid hazing the nickel or damaging the bluing should I just put a light coat of flitz wax or is another wax better. Or if not wax would something else be best? Any ideas would be appreciated.

I have stored guns for years on end at different times using only a heavy coating of remington oil on blued and stainless guns,and Pure silicone on nickel guns.Works very well for me with no ill effects.I am myself now looking into the Wax method since joining this forum.

Any quality wax will work. Keeping them in a breathable outer layer (like Sack-Ups or Bore Stores) that will keep them from nicks or rubs, and in a climate-controlled room, are also good ideas. I think most tend not to store them in the factory cardboard boxes to preserve the boxes, and because they are not very protective from moisture. I think the padded plastic boxes are fine.

The best wax is Renaissance Wax. It is available from a variety of sources like Brownells, Midway, many woodworking suppliers, etc. It is a special wax developed by the British for protecting antiques, such as swords, armor, guns, leather, wood, parchment, etc. It imparts no offensive chemicals to the object, and will not yellow. It cleans, shines, and protects firearms. Storage in a correctly controlled environment of heat and humidity is critical for best storage of any firearms. Humidity and moisture are the worst things.

Flitz is not a wax,It is a metal polish.

Regular zippered, non-vinyl pistol rugs work fine. I usually will liberally spray the insides with silicone spray, and allow to dry, then store gun in same.
Never a problem.
