Default How about straightening a fellow out.

A friend asked me if I could gather some information on his Smith & Wesson model 10, so I start checking into it and I don't understand what I'm finding. So here goes,,, Model 10-5. As far as I can tell the -5 series started around 1961, but the serial number, D107366, says it was made in 1969. What gives??? Thanks for your input. RRM

The Model 10-5 was made from 1962 until 1977 . . . serial numbers ranging from approx C570XXX to D999999. The change from "C" s/n prefix to "D" occurred roughly late 1968-early 1969.

D107366 would have shipped in late 1969 - early 1970. Tell your friend all is well.
