NICKEL - MANIA
When I started collecting Smith & Wesson Revolvers I always loved their high gloss nickel finish. This finish has never been very popular here in Germany, nevertheless, sometimes one can find a nice gun on an auction platform or from private collectors. To be honest - I'm shooting since 1970 and have never seen a nickeled gun on the range. STAINLESS, that's what everybody has. But people tend to be different. Maybe that's the reason for my Nickel - Mania. But other people may think the same way, because sometime, not very often, a gun shows up which has been personalized. What becomes popular is taking a stainless steel 686 and give the gun a black satin finish. This seems to work as a protective coating for rifles, but not for a sixgun where the hot flames damage the coating at the cylinder throat. To avoid this the cylinders are not coated, but instead they are given a satin stainless steel look by glass blasting. I personally don't like that look - but other people think different. I will include some pictures of my "nickel collection". I hope you like it. Maybe I have to write a part 2, because I cannot include all picture.

Those are lovely. My Nickel collection is much smaller. I have a M19-3 in 4" that is nickel and a M37 that I carry as a backup inside my vest at work. I love the look of Nickel and I'm on the hunt for a M19 in 2 1/2" as a mate for my blued 2 1/2" M19.

Nice collection. I hope to own something in nickle someday.
I like high gloss finishes. And better yet, I like bringing out that gloss myself - it's frustratingly fun!

Not only are they nickel, you have some very desirable models. Nice collection.
I have a 6" 19-3, 4" 19-4, 6" 27-2, 4" 29-2, and a 6" 29-2 in nickel. They are nice guns, but not as collectible as yours.

Actung, Baby! That's some nice collection there. I'll bet you get some attention at the range with those beauties.
36,37,38,57,10, the nickel S&Ws in my mob.

I have the same M27-2. 6" in nickel too what a sweet revolver.
Glad to see some across the pond like there s&w's in the world famous nickel finish too. Congrats on the collection. I prefer the nickel finish first over the rest. There are less nickel finish guns manufactured over the blue & stainless finishes. That makes these ??????

19-4 No Pin
I have a 57 in nickel, 8.375", counterbored cylinder but no pinned barrel. Based on its serial number it was manufactured in the timeframe when S&W was transitioning from the 57 to the 57-1 (1982). You didn't specify your serial number but my guess is that you have the same kind of a transition gun from circa 1982 when the 19-4 was transitioning to the 19-5 (eliminate cylinder counterbore and pinned barrel).

I have the s&w m27-2 6", m24 6 1/2", m57 6", m58 4" all in nickel finish.
I'm missing the s&w m29-10 in nickel next. My LGS will order me a new one soon. Then a few 4" barreled n frame Magnums is next.
If S&W ever stops doing the nickel finishes like the other manufacturer has we got gold.

If you like nickel, you might like silver too. Here is a Model 1, 2nd issue with a silver plated brass frame and a Model 1, 3rd issue nickel plated. About 1865 and 1875 respectively.

Nice collection. I only have two in nickel, a 2” pre model 37 and a 3” 36-1. I would love to have that 3 ½ incher.
