The subject of the mode 28-2 has come up recently on this site. I read that not to many of the nickel plated models were built, and the ones that were, were sent to Fla. Someone will come along and be able to check you serial number and from that they can tell you more about your revolver. It is a nice looking gun, hope you enjoy it. Ray

If it letters from the factory as nickel, then yes,it is rare. And VALUABLE! I sure hope it turns out to be the original finish. Either way,it looks great!

I'll trade you a Mossberg '72 and cash for it? Kidding.
I've done some research and the word brushed nickel came up.
Now I'm not sure if the m28 was a brushed nickel, shiney nickel or satin nickel? Or all of the above?
Forget it it's a fake I'll take it off your hands.

Based on the bright nickel finish and the SN, it is likely a refinished gun but a very nicely done one. The only way to be certain is the factory letter as mentioned above. Expect a 3-4 month wait at this time.

No. Not original. Not rare. Not valuable. Sorry.
