S&W letter arrived.
This Combat Masterpiece was ,according to the dealer I bought it from a few years ago, part of group that came in trade to them from the Ga. Dept. of Human Resources Police when they swapped them for Glocks. When I got it, the shop had 25- 30 of them.
It was ,to be more precise, used by the Central State Hospital Police. As a deputy sheriff, I have taken people to this hospital on many occasions.
Central State Hospital (CSH), Milledgeville, Georgia : Weird True Stories
Some info on the current agency:
Police Department
Here it is:
It actually letters to Beck and Gregg Hardware in Atlanta in 1973. They handled state contracts from many years. This is consistant with the history from the dealer. I personally remember that the PD there carried Model 15s for a long time.

How do you know it was earmarked for Central State Hospital? The letter indicates it was purchased by the state of Georgia, but nothing further.
I am not doubting you; I am simply curious.

How long did you have to wait for your letter? I'm beginning to think my request was lost in the mail.

The police supplier that I bought it from took the guns directly from the Central State Hospital PD in trade for Glocks for the entire dept. when the agency transitioned to semi autos.

I'm almost surprised it isn't nickel plated. Those were popular in the South. I have a 15-3 in nickel that shipped to a Louisiana university. I added the stocks.

As mentioned earlier,I have been there many times. Some say that the place is haunted by Civil War soldiers and many other "patients" that died there.....
I don't know about that. But, I am sure about one thing. Since that is where the criminally insane as well as many innocent people were housed, I really don't want to know about the horrors that happened inside those walls a hundred or so years ago....
