Default pre model 36 chief special

Hi to all Just scored a 1953 or 54 chiefs pre model 36 with a 3in barrel tonight at an auction serial 485xx May have paid to much but it was so nice Would anyone know what the proper box, paperwork and cleaning kit look like. The gun is almost unfired in like 98 condition all matching numbers including the grips Thank in advance

Hondo44 is the I/J frame expert here on the Forum, but I'll take a stab at this.

The correct box would be, I believe, the two-piece blue box that does not say "A Bangor Punta Company" on the top. It would have the sun-ray pattern on it (in fact, these did not survive up to the BP era so far as I know).

Now if the gun was originally sold in 1953 and not 1954, it might have come in the red box with a picture of a revolver on the top. Those boxes did have the metal corners, I think. I've never owned one, so I'm not positive about that.

The cleaning kit would have the short aluminum rod with a mop. The paperwork would have included the "Helpful Hints" brochure.

Congratulations! You did not mention if it is round, or square butt. I picked up a similar 1 at the last local gun show. It is a 3" square butt. (1957) All numbers match including grips. Box & papers in good shape, no tools. Box is blue w/ metal corners. Post some pics when you get a chance. Bob

Hi It is a round butt Question? would the rod be the round top style and was there a brush included Any paper work included?? Would love to post pics but do not have equipment or knowledge May be my 4 yr. old granddaughter could do it for me LOL
