Model 19-4 Refinishing Project
Hello- Just recently acquired a 19-4 "shooter" for $420. When I got it, it had a lot of bluing loss and some pretty deep rusting on the side plate and cylinder. Internals and barrel in good condition. Anyway, got the old finish and rust off, Parkerized, and applied some cold blue. It now reminds me of the finish on a Model 28 (not as nice of course, but functional). Thought I'd post it for your review.

About the only time I think rubber grips look decent is on a parked handgun. Just works for me. That is a good workhorse there.

I like the utilitarian, matte black look.

Personally I would't have done it, but only because I wouldn't spend the money to refinish a run of the mill gun. If you wanted to, and didn't mind the extra expense, I got no problem with it. It actually looks pretty good to me.

I find it funny that some people can't just move on without making a comment. It's not their gun.
My way if thinking is you just made it so a good serviceable gun stays in service for a long time to come and that is a good thing!
So long as you're happy with it, and will shoot it and enjoy it it, it's a good move.

Nice work. Looks good to me, though purists may disagree. Very practical for a shooter, and certainly not unattractive to look at.
But then I've only bought guns I could carry and shoot, so I'm big on practicality.

I like the no nonsense look. I recently picked up a holster worn 4" M15 in similar condition and am trying to decide if I want to refinish or not. Ahrends Tactical grips actually cover up most of the pitting so I might just keep as it.
