Need help with manufacture date of flat latch 36
I have a flat latch model 36 that I am having a hard time dating.
I know it was made before 1962 but that is all I know.
The serial number is 261289. Thanks in advance.

Bump to the top. Can't believe no one has been able to answer this post yet.
I figured it would take less than 10 minutes. Guess I was very wrong.

Well, sometimes things slip through Sunday nights
I would guess this one to be from early '62. I know of one J frame in the 229,000 SN range that left the factory in 10/61, and I doubt they got 30000 more out the door before the year was over. Hope this is helpful.

Two Guns, I see you waited all of SIX MINUTES, (on a Sunday night) before growing impatient. The gun is fifty three years old. Give the boys a break, it takes time to look through all that paper-work. And... there ain't no overtime pay.
How long ago did you move up into that beautiful, laid back, happy, no rush, "Live Free or Die" , 'God's own favorite Garden", and generally wonderful place, from........... N.J.

OOPS; Sometimes I do the thinking and typing, sometimes "Evan Williams Black" does !
Two guns, I envy you the lifetime in N.H.....well not at just this date and time, but I do in the spring, summer, and early fall.

The snow and sub zero temps do suck this time of year. I can't wait for spring.
