Default Model 66 serial date

Hello all,

I am brand new here and I think I am posting in the right area. I am looking to find the approximate date on a 66 (no dash).
It was an issue revolver to a partner of mine (67 years old and on his 3rd agency, fun guy to trade police stories with!). He says he only used it for quals and it was his carry gun for 4-5 years. With that being said I estimate no more than 350-450 rounds have been through it. It is in decent condition and has a 4" barrel. An approximate value range would be nice too.

Thanks all!

The serial # is 7K54xxx

It would probably go for between $500 and 650, depending on how it would be sold. I think there is a chip out of the thin part of the left upper stock panel but that doesn't seriously decrease its value.

Thank you very much for the quick and informative response guys. It is greatly appreciated. He and I are contemplating an even steven swap. His 66 for my Interarms Walther PPK/S. My Walther serves a distinct purpose as a console gun between my truck seats, but I have always wanted a 66. Coming from a guy who I really respect makes this one even more appealing.
He is a lefty, so the wear marks on the stock are from endless hours of being rubbed up against the door panel of a patrol car.

Should I be concerned about these numbers not matching?

No, you will see the X4853 elsewhere on the gun, usually the right lower grip frame. It is a fitter's or assembler's stamp and does not match the legal SN.
