Default help with two 38 specials

I have two 38 specials trying to decipher and get year and value and any other info
1.airweight model 37 5 shot revolver 38 special
serial number on butt 3j1*** last three numbers not filled in
looks like 2 or 2 1/2 barrel
2.looks like a service revolver model 10-5 I believe this one is six shot looks like 4 inch barrel 38 special.serial numberd84***

It would be the nominal 2" barrel, but it should actually measure 1 7/8"

A 10-5 with only five digits would have a D in front of it. That would make it 1968 production.
And yes, the cylinder would hold 6 rounds.

thanks jack,, let me ask you will both of these year 38 shoot off the shelf 38 special ammo,,,I readme place about new ammo being to m for some older guns?

Yes, if they are mechanically sound any standard pressure .38 Special ammo you find is safe. There is an ongoing back and forth about the dreaded +P loading if you find any; it is perfectly safe in your 10-5 in whatever quantities you can afford, and ok for occasional use in the 37.
