I picked up a Model 17-4 today and was surprised that there was a S&W holster included
The Revolver is a Model 17 -4 with a 6" pinned barrel, recessed cylinders, and diamond grips. Serial # is 29K42XX. The holster is S&W and fits it perfectly. Unfortunately, i cannot attach photos.

Catalog specifies a wide # range for that serial number....yours probably falls in 1978.

S&W may have sold holsters and gun belts a little after the mid 1800's to about the early 1900's.

After a 50-60 year hiatus, about 1969, S&W acquired a leather goods/holster making company and sold leather holsters to the mid 1980's.

The 17-4 was produced 1977 - 1988.
Diamond grips were discontinued in 1968.

All 29K numbers were issued in 1979. The ranges supplied in the SCSW are approximate.

Nice K-22. Later today, I'll try to get you a photo of the S&W holster brochure that shipped with guns in the 1970s and 1980s. I have a few of them but no pictures.
