My first S&W!
First post!
I've had Ruger and Taurus offerings over the past couple years but never a Smith. Decided to rectify that and picked up this gem.
An excellent condition Model 15-3, here it is in all it's glory! It's just had a bath in Remoil so it's a little streaky.
I have a feeling this won't be the last!

Nice ! 15-3 without the diamond grips 1968-1976. I can see the progression,next M19,then M27/28,then M29 and so on.

Thanks all. The serial starts with 6K so it dates to 1975, according to what I've found online. All my favorite firearms come from the 70's (like me) so I guess it's a keeper. Already contemplating another one...

No better platform for the .38 special exists. Excellent first S&W, but it will not be your last.

Not necessarily. 6K was used in 1974 and 1975. It depends on what the last 5 digits are. Above 58917, is 1975. 58917 and below is 1974.

Very nice, & Welcome to the FORUM! I have it's cousin. Model 67 no dash from 1973. A 67 is a stainless 15. I took it to the range recently, and had forgotten how well it can shoot. Enjoy your 15! Bob

Just a little warning. To me Smith & Wesson's are as or more addictive than cigarettes
, alcohol etc, etc . Welcome to the club. One ain't enough.

Congratulations and welcome to the best source for knowledge and expertise. I bought my first Md 15 this year. It's a -4 model with a 2 inch barrel. It shoots better than I would ever imagined. I will probably by a nice 4 inch one too, if I can find one.
Like others have said, once you own one of these marvelous S&W revolvers, more will be in your future.

You will have a much easier time finding a 4" than another 3!" I'm not sure I have ever seen a 3" Combat Masterpiece!

And this forum will only inspire you to buy more. If you start trolling on the auction sites you'll really be in trouble. Welcome!

Congratulations on a fine start! By comparison, I was "built" in the late 1940s and two of the S&Ws I have had the longest are a pair of 6" Ks, a K-38 and a K-22 that were built in the same era. I can identify with what you are saying and I probably won't be letting them go any time soon either!

The Perfect "K" Frame
You couldn't have started with a finer example than the M15 Combat Masterpiece unless perhaps you had chosen a equally fine revolver in the Model 67, you will later find a must have for no better reason than it is a SS M15. To go full circle a M15 2" will also be in order. This has been the most enjoyable 2" barrel I have fired to date, unfortunately not as plentiful as the 4" 15 but worth the time and money. The 15-4 was my first S&W and still one of my favorites. Congratulations

Welcome to the addiction. I can remember the day that I bought my first S&W - a M58 back in 1982.
