Afternoon folks. Does anybody know if the 10-5 ever came from the factory with a target hammer and trigger. My Standard catalog doesn't make any mention of either. Reason I'm asking is, I see one for sale and I'm wondering if these were changed out for the original parts at some point. Also, How late was the 10-5 made? This one has the standard grips and not the diamond magnas so its gotta be newer than 1968. Thanks.

Many eons ago "Gil Hebard" was a Smith and Wesson Distributor that the Gun Shop I worked part time for ordered S&W from. Sometimes models that were not cataloged were received. I recall a Model 10 blue, 4" RB that came with target hammer and trigger. Another time a Model 19 came with magna grips instead of target grips. I think (?) that when the factory was assembling models and ran short of a certain type part, they used what was on hand.

Thanks guy. Sadly the auction slipped away before I could figure this out. I'm thing $350 was a pretty good deal.

I have seen a Model 10, either a -5 or -7, snubby, factory nickel, with a target hammer. I don't recall that it had a target trigger.

Any combination of available parts is possible on any given S & W, but specifically the hammer and trigger are easily swapped without leaving any evidence in the right hands, so a factory letter would be the only way to confirm.
