If I ask you "How do you grip your new revolver?" Do I mean what
kind of handles did you put on it or do I mean how do you hold it?
It would be great if there was a standard name for the handles on
handguns but there's not, so we just have to keep on guessing what
is meant.
Bullet is a word used by many when they mean cartridge.
Pistol is a word often used when revolver is meant.
Hammerless is used but concealed hammer would be better.
Cylinder is often used to describe one of the charge holes in the cylinder.
Clip is used when the proper word is magazine.
Assault Rifle is mis-used regularly by the media.
I'm sure you all can add others to this little list.

Pistols were written about in literature 400+ years ago. That predates the old pistol-revolver issue. Historically a fairly recent battle over description. Pistol was used centuries ago to describe hand held firearms. Another example of "much about nothing".

I'm afraid the ladies have it on that one.

Your wife. The wife always wants it down. You sometimes want it down. Right there, that's a majority, before you even include the fact that sometimes it's already down, anyway, when you're through with it. Furthermore, if a man says something in a forest, and nobody else is around, . . . .

In our little corner of the world most all of the toilet training falls to the lady folks. If they want the seat a certain way, it's their training that decides. Don't train them to put it up, don't whine when they don't. Yeah, that's pretty sexist, that's the way we live around here. Remember what PC stands for...Personal Censorship...

But... it's really not very important. HOWEVER what does bothers me.. is a magazine that is called a clip. They are distinctly different. And those of us who use them should know the difference.

According to my dictionary, grip is also a noun. *yawn*

Yeah, but "Gimme back my cartridges!" just does not have the same ring as "Gimme back my bullets!".
