How much is my Model 50 worth?

First off, I apologize if this is a recurring thread or question. I became a recent owner of a Model 50 Chief's Special Target and was curious if anyone here knew it's probable value. I'm not a collector myself so I have no idea. It's in excellent condition, looks as if it has rarely, if ever, been fired. I can't upload pics right now, but it's blues with 2" barrel, serial # is 934JXX if that helps with anything. I've looked into a history request through S&W but they are back logged and haven't updated their website. Thanks in advance!

Welcome! It is a scarce gun from one of the later production runs (1972), and as you describe it I would guess it to be worth $12-1500, more if you have the original box and contents. Hope this is helpful.

I have one that I bought at a local gun show, SN, 936J18, shipped in early 1973. Mine was about 98% and had original box with numbered grips. Prior to me getting this I saw two of them sell on gun broker for what murphydog said. Take a look in the thread that covers this time frame, I posted some information. Thanks for the feedback! It is in the original box with manual and some other paperwork. The next task is finding a good place to sell it. Took it to a gun show this weekend but didn't have any luck
