Default Let's see some 58s

Found a beater 58 which is going to become 45 colt but can't decide on barrel length or barrel type. The one below was done with a short pencil barrel which I really like. I think the next one will be a 5 1/2" version of it or maybe an older style barrel with no rib, similar to a triple lock. Would love to see pics of some others.

Not .45 Colt but a .44 Mag that I made from a beater 58.

This one rode up and down the highways of Wyoming with me for 13 years.

We was in some serious social encounters, but it always did it's part to get us home.
Wouldn't change a thing.

Sweet guns. The 44 look like one of the 3 inchers the factory made. This is one of the barrels I'm thinking bout, maybe cut to 5 or 5 1/2" and then see if the front inch could be slid back over it.

Weighed the 4" gun above and a 4 3/4" old 45 Vaquero to compare and there's less than an ounce difference. I thought it would be nice to build something like a double action Vaquero with the same balance. I had a 45 heavy barrel cut to 5" and threaded to fit a Blackhawk and it felt very front heavy. Linebaugh writes the 25-5 he carries is about perfect having the same cylinder od as a Ruger and I like mine too but it's heavy. Maybe a ribbed pencil barrel with some kind of adjustable front sight would be the ticket. Or maybe the 6 1/2" barrel above with the old style cylinder chamfer. Can't seem to decide.

These two are protecting their 57 cousins who are too scared to get out of their boxes.

Too ashamed to show my M58, 'cuz it has incorrect grips. It's a ~1965 model which I got from SWF member SA Fireman, but has later Magna's on it. And PC diamond Magna's have become far too dear.

It's not worthy to grace these pages.
