I know I am preaching to the choir here, but sometimes you just have to let things out.

I picked up this Model 10-6 at a gun show here in NC a few months back....I traded a Ruger LCR that I never liked for it.

It was someone's PPC gun. It had the big Bomar rib and hideous Hogue Monogrip....and the trigger pull was incredibly light.

I found some aftermarket wood service grips. Too smooth and small for my arthritic hands. Put on some Pachmayr Grippers. Much better than the Hogue and the wood grips. Not too pretty, but easier to hold.

I handloaded some .38 Special and got a LOT of light primer strikes.

Took the revolver to a local smith I know and he determined that a spring was aftermarket and he swapped it out and made sure I had the "factory" trigger pull again.

Found some 1970s vintage Pachmayr Presentation Grips, put them on.....felt a lot better.....shot a lot better.

Something was missing. I put the rib up for trade and was contacted by a member here and we swapped the rib for Goncalo Alves Target Stocks. Silver Medallion, Stainless Washer, Football. From what I can determine these are from the early 70s.

Put them on and my 46 year old gun looked as if she had one of those instant makeovers. I know they aren't "correct" for the revolver, but I like the look and the feel.

Took the revolver out today and put some rounds down range. To say I was thrilled was an understatement.

This Model 10-6 is from late 1969/ early 1970 and shoots like it is brand new.

Dead on accurate. A joy to shoot with 125gr plated flat nose bullets and 4.5 grains of Titegroup.

This is my second 10-6. I was relatively new to S&W when I had the first and I traded it for something a few years ago. This one isn't going anywhere.

I like the look of target grips with fixed sights even if they aren't "correct". Great gun.

The PPC Model 10, sounds familiar. Picked up this one in Jan. (10-6, 1967 frame) I too had light primer strikes, but it was a shortened strain screw. A new 1 fixed that problem. I have never seen a 8&3/8" example, or picture except this 1. If you have an example like it, would like to see pictures. (Thanks) I need more range time with it to unleash it's potential. Bob
