Default Model 29 story?

Model 29-2 44 Magnum
Serial # N8000xx (Note: appears to be from a reserved block?)
Barrel is 5 27/32 inches (nominal 6 inch?)
Pinned & recessed
Matte nickle plated. Ejector rod, trigger, hammer, & cylinder latch are gold plated
Carries a 2nd Chance logo
Rubber grip (Pachmeyer?)

Any body know the story behind this? Any idea of value? (assume 98%)

Possibly a prize gun from a Second Chance bowling pin/shooting match.
Richard Davis, owner of Second Chance Body Armor in Michigan, used to put on a big shooting match every year.
Doesn't sound like a factory finish.

That serial number puts it about 1980 - 1981.

Yes, that's a 6 inch barrel.

Certainly sounds like a trophy or presentation revolver.

I remember reading that Second Chance used to give a gun to any police officer that survived being shot while wearing their body armor, and then killed the assailant. I believe that it was the BATF that stopped that - said it was too much like bounty hunting. Maybe one of those guns?

Adios,

Pizza Bob

This has been a safe queen here for a number of years. I'm wondering what it's worth, might sell it.

I doubt it's worth more than a comparable M29 without the bling: probably less.
