Gotta Love a 25-2
Took this (6" 25-2) out for a stroll today; haven't shot it for awhile. From what I remember, it liked 185 grain factory Fed or Atlanta Arms jacketed SWCs. Shot some 50 yd slowfires with ATL Arms ammo to start. I was rewarded with a couple of good 50 yd targets without any flyers. Next up was some 230 grain Fed commercial and TZZ GI Match ball. Nothing to write home about, but still not too bad. Below target was the last one shot, with Fed 230 grain factory match, 25 yards. Might have to take this to Perry next year for the new CMP revolver match. A good S&W .45 revolver is a beautiful thing.

Nice shooting. I use my 25 for bullseye also. They are such sweet shooters. My short line load is 3.2 gr. Red Dot under Matt's 165 gr. full wadcutter. Soft recoil and great accuracy. It blows away the 1911 guys when they see a 45 ACP case with a completely flat top bullet. And they punch out a beautifully clean cut round hole.

I have used my 25-2 for target work also. I use the SAECO 453 mold to cast 240 grain WCs. About 900 fps is an attention getter.
I also used my 25-2 as a springboard to 4” barreled ACP revolvers.

25-2
I agree with you. I took my 1955 target out last weekend along with its older brother, the 1950 Target. It didn't take long to see why the 1955 Target was born. There is a night & day difference between the 2. The 1950 with its tapered barrel looks so cool however S&W knew what they were doing when they put a heavy barrel on the 1955. The extra weight makes all the difference in shooting. It soaks up the recoil making it MUCH easier to shoot.
I won't get rid of the 1950 but will not shoot it in any matches
